All About Kim

Kim Barnard hails from Bloomington, IL. Having over 30 years of dance experience, Kim received her training from two incredible studios in Bloomington/Normal, and the Dance/Musical Theater department of Illinois State University with an emphasis in ballet, jazz, & choreography. She has also trained with noteable choreographers such as Spencer Liff, Dorianna Sanchez, Harrison McEldowney, Jeremy Plummer, & Laura Dunlop. Her professional credits include: the 66th Annual Tony Awards, dancing for the Chicago Bulls' basketball team, & singing on The Spirit of Chicago. Kim was also a dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for many years, dance captian for Broadway style shows, & has been teaching dance since 2014. She has been a judge for NexStar since 2012, and LOVES being the owner of All About Dance Bloomington!

Our Dress Code

Overall, we want dancers to feel comfortable and confident during dance class. We have a few guidelines to let everyone be able to dance all out!

  • No jeans

  • Be comfortable and able to move

  • Ballet classes ages 10 & up:

    • Girls -- leotard and tights

    • Boys -- form fitting, moveable clothes

  • Shoes: 

    • Ballet -- canvas or leather ballet flats

    • Jazz -- tan or black jazz shoes

    • Contemporary -- bare feet, half soles, or foot undeez

    • Lyrical -- bare feet, half soles, or foot undeez

    • Tap -- tan or black tap shoes

    • Hip Hop -- sneakers

    • Dance Medley -- canvas/leather ballet flats & tan/black tap shoes

    • Leaps/Turns -- bare feet/tan or black jazz shoes 

    • Acro -- bare feet
